Pakistan Armed Forces Rampage through Dera Bugti

On Wednesday August 14th, after 1240 days of hunger strike demonstrations in Quetta, the Protest Camp for Families of Missing Persons was burned and ransacked by Pakistan Security Forces.  The camp was founded by Mama Abdul Qadir Baloch after his son Jalil Reki (a leader of BRP) was abducted in 2009.  Jalil’s bullet riddled body was recovered 2 years later in 2011.  Since its inception 3 years ago, the camp has been home to the families of victims of abductions and extra-judicial killings.  Only days before the attack, Mama Qadir had received death threats by Pakistan Security Agents who demanded the camp be dismantled.

August 16th, in the town of Mach, Pakistan Armed Forces deployed a helicopter gunship during a ruthless assault on the Mach residents.  10 civilians were killed and dozens injured in Friday’s attack.

Pakistan Armed Forces continue their vicious rampage in Dera Bugti regions through the weekend conducting operations in RD 238, Muhan Patt and Deenari Patt.  Pakistani Soldiers are conducting loot and burn operations, indiscriminately firing upon Baloch civilians. Several Baloch have been killed and many abductions have been reported.  Sunday August 18th the disfigured remains of 2 previously abducted BRP activists have been discovered in Sui.  One of them has been identified as Ismail Bugti.  Ismail was abducted by Pakistani agents on August 14th in the Zenkoh region of Dera Bugti.
Much like the attacks in Bolan on August 11th, the Pakistani Forces have been dumping previously abducted and murdered Baloch activists while conducting loot and burn operations in order to justify both; the ongoing attacks on civilian villages, and the murders of the abductees by falsely labelling their victims as insurgents and terrorists.   Reports of killings and abductions continue to surface from the Dera Bugti regions as the Pakistani Death Squads continue their destructive rampage.

On Monday August 20th, In Killi Qambarini Quetta, Pakistan Armed Forces killed three Baloch and abducted several others.   The bodies of abductees Ghafoor and Ramzan Baloch were found in Surjani town Karachi.  In Saami Kech one person was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

On July 29th, While Pakistan military is flexing its muscle in Balochistan, 70 Taliban Militants Bombed and Stormed a Dera Ismail Khan Prison, in the neighboring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province.  During the attack Taliban Militants killed six guards, Executed six Shiite inmates, and released 250+ prisoners.  Although a handful of Pakistani security forces “engaged the attackers” none of the Taliban Militants were killed and they all Escaped unscathed along with the Prisoners into Waziristan.  Many of the escaped prisoners are reported to be Dangerous members of the banned LEJ Terrorist group.
The prison officials have admitted they were forewarned of the impending attack, and even held a conference, yet made No Preparations.  Reports indicate that several Bombs were detonated along the walls, and the gates attacked with RPGs.  With the 400,000+ soldiers stationed in neighboring Balochistan, its inconceivable how such an attack could have succeeded without State Compliance.
After the 2012 Taliban attack at the Bannu Prison, the Pakistan government allotted an additional Rs350 Million to Prison security in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa regions.  Rs120 million were spent on procurement of technological security devices such as walkthrough gates, explosive scanners and closed circuit cameras.  Somehow armed with both the knowledge of an impending attack and a wealth of modern security equipment, the Taliban militants were able to plant explosives along the walls and invade the prison with minimal opposition.   Two days prior to the attack, officials conducted searches of the prison & seized 60 cell phones.  Mr Abbas, who is also the superintendent of Peshawar central prison, confirmed in an interview on the 26th that “banned items couldn't reach Prisoners without the Support of Insiders.”
